Well, it happened. I’ve gone to the gym so much, my Planet Fitness tag had to be replaced. It’s pretty exciting to say that. Pretty gross looking too! Thank goodness I was able to get a fresh one. I’ve checked in on the Yelp website 137 times since April 1st last year! I know I definitely missed logging a few so it’s probably over 150 visits to the gym in less than a year. Pretty exciting!! And I have almost 50 less pounds to show for it. My next weigh in is March 25th so I have a little more than 3 weeks to really kick it into gear again.
I have been having that crazy trouble with my left knee and I finally broke down and went to see Dr. Savage at Bayside Orthopedics in Fairhope, AL. I had several good personal referrals for him and he’s under my insurance plan. So, it turns out that I had some fluid build up on the left knee and I do have a bit of early arthritis in both knees with a bit of bone spurs on each one. He was able to drain the fluid and get me back from limping in no time! I was so worried something was torn-I had been getting a limp that wasn’t going away and had to stop all my Zumba classes and change my gym workouts to upper body only. Now I am on the mend and can slowly build back up to full activity in about two to three weeks. I have to still keep an eye on it and go back if I have any more trouble, but because of my awesome Planet Fitness trainer, I don’t have to do physical therapy since we can slowly start working that knee again. I’ve mentioned him many times before, and I can’t say how awesome it is to have him help push me when I don’t feel like it or change things up when we have been working around this knee. I have to avoid the treadmill for a bit, but I’m ok with the recumbent bike and the elliptical for now. I’m just beyond happy that my knee isn’t worn out like my Planet Fitness card!! It may slow me down for a bit, but I’m looking forward to pushing ahead full steam again soon. If you need a trainer to work with in the Eastern Shore area, let me know and I will be happy to get you in touch with Tres.
Don’t let a situation make you feel like you can’t do anything. Find a way to work around it or even with it. Definitely seek out a doctor’s help if you have any particular lasting pain. It’s not worth living with something that might be easily handled. If it turns out to be more serious, even more important that you take time for you and get it checked out. I was so afraid to go and ended up with good news. Don’t let life make you feel worn out! Get out there and go for it!!!
