Unwritten

unwritten

I am quoting from Natasha Bedingfield on this New Year’s Day 2016:

“Unwritten”

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not findReaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

That song speaks so much to me today.  My new year is unwritten and I can chose where the story goes, where MY story goes.  I am still just as passionate today as I was when I started this weight loss journey last year, maybe even more so.  It was so great to go to the gym this morning, not as a resolution to work out, but as a continuation of what I have started.  That’s a new one for me!!  It felt so good to be in the familiar surroundings of my Planet Fitness and with the rain it was quieter than I expected it to be on the 1st day of the new year.  I’m sure this afternoon it will be a buzzing frenzy of new people joining and starting their new goals and that’s great! I am pushing further on my goals.  I am not sure the scale will be my friend when I weigh in next Friday, January 8th.  I’ve been eating pretty bad for Christmas.  I did so good all the way up to Thanksgiving and then I had stress at work and gave in to the food and cookies and goodies, and a little more eating out than I had been through this past few months.  I have kept exercising, but I know that many articles say 80% of your losing weight is your eating and only 20% is the exercise.  The good thing is I didn’t eat bad AND stop exercising, that would have been a disaster.  So, even if the scale is the same or maybe I put on a few pounds over the holidays, I’m not going to beat myself up.  I start from here and keep working for my goal, push harder, eat smarter again.  Sometimes the eating is just having the food prepared for the week or pre-thinking about what you are going to have so those weak moments don’t catch you off guard.  I am still so excited about how far I’ve come.  I fast walked and ran 3.1 miles on the treadmill this morning-a full 5K distance!  I could barely make a half mile when I started walking with my son in 2014 to prepare for The Color Run-it was definitely the perfect race for a first 5K-there are not time limits, you just have fun!  My first 3.1 miles and now, we have walked over 8 races in the past two years and are signed up for The Pensacola Foam Glow 5K.  This should be as fun as The Color Run but hoping it’s not freezing cold!!  If you need help finding a race shoot me a message and I’ll be glad to help you search.  They have been a great motivation for me to keep training and improving my personal time.  What is your favorite race or 5K that you have completed??
