Mardi Gras Mayhem

My theme has obviously taken a turn from my weight loss and exercise to the revelry of Mardi Gras!  The parties are now over, parades are done, and we have a combined pile of 79 pounds of beads from the collection of the past two years between my son and myself.  We will be participating in the beads for donuts program at Krispy Kreme this year.  I might have to snitch a donut but I’ll leave the majority of the sweets to the kids.


It was an amazing season and I had such a great time enjoying two of the Mardi Gras balls with the LaShe’s and the Stripers and numerous parades.  Nathan and I finished up our photos for the Mobile Mask and got them turned in this weekend.  The slide shows will be up to view soon on  Our parades include The Apollo Mystic Ladies, Shadow Barons, Knights of Ecor Rouge, Maids of Jubilee, Mystic Magnolias, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach!  You can just go to “Parading Groups” and click on any of the ones listed to see our pictures.  It was fun and the weather held out fairly well except for a bit of a chill and wind a few of the nights.  One of the most fun parts is getting to meet people and sometimes seeing the same people each year.  It’s a whirlwind of work and fun mixed together and an aftermath of exhaustion and for me fighting a bit of the crud.


I am back to my workouts and Monday I started back to logging what I eat to really buckle down and get ready for my next weigh in for March 25th.  I have a little over a month to really make another big push and I am excited to be back in the gym and to my Zumba classes.  We did a Foam Glow 5K (3.1 miles) Saturday evening in Pensacola with the Zumba ladies and my son.  My only problem is I am having some real trouble with pain in my left foot and knee right now.  I walked the full course and even did a work out several times last week.  My trainer has been awesome to work around my leg and push for arm work and some core exercises and the Zumba girls have been super supportive of me not overdoing it.  So, today I am taking a rest day and have been using ice and elevated my leg last night.  I’ve been taking Ibuprofen and I am so hoping the pain will subside and I won’t have to go to a doctor for the pain.  I just don’t want this to be a big bump in the road on me reaching my goals.  I’m planning to be back at Zumba tomorrow night and will see how things are going.  I’m determined to keep going and at least I can control what I’m eating to help reach my goal.
